WHO WE ARE

YouthWorx Media is a supported media training studio in Brunswick, Melbourne. We work primarily with young people who have experienced homelessness or educational disadvantage. Our purpose built studio is equipped with HDV video cameras, portable sound recorders, multiple editing workstations and a sound recording studio. We broadcast live to air weekly on SYN radio and run a range of Open Access programs in radio and film as well as delivering our core program, Certificate I, II and III in Creative Industries (Media), in partnership with NMIT.

We use media to engage marginalised young people in a process of participation and development that seeks to reconnect them to community. Fundamental to the YouthWorx approach is engaging young people in ‘real world’ activities that have value, purpose and that make sense to participants. YouthWorx is a project of Youth Development Australia inc, a not for profit organisation that seeks to be a platform for change in youth work practice.
