Bessie – Business Development Coordinator

Bessie Byrne is a Social Impact Documentary Filmmaker with experience in a diverse range of media roles. She is a long term environmental activist and advocate for social justice. She first became interested in documentary as a vehicle for change when doing her undergraduate in communications and has since worked on a variety of documentaries that challenge mainstream perceptions

She is the producer of the documentary Tunnel Vision (2016, Aus) which looked at how people power can make a difference. She was previously one of the organisers of The Environmental Film Festival of Australia and currently volunteers with Brunswick Friends of Forests and as an Impact Producer for independent documentaries.

Bessie is passionate about equitable access to opportunities, encouraging people to engage with democracy through video, and empowering filmmakers from diverse backgrounds to be leaders in the film and media industries.
